The reason quidditch is catching on like wildfire is because it truly is like a newly invented sport. It has that perfect combination of simplicity and the possibility for advanced techniques that makes it appealing to everyone. It is the ultimate dorm sport in college. I have played three very different sports for most of my life; football, wrestling, and lacrosse. Quidditch has the best of all three, plus dodgeball!

Holy crow!!!! Did you guys see this on Mugglenet?

The story is here.

How cool is that? Not only do you get to see a Quidditch tournament at LeakyCon (which, sadly, I will not be able to attend), but you get to have Evanna Lynch as commentator!!!! And if you're already an attendee, it's free to watch!

Do I have to say it? I'm jealous of all the LeakyCon attendees.

I have seen the championship match that they held in conjunction with the Olympic Torch relay through Oxford last weekend. Have you? The 26-minute video of that match is right here. Going to that page and scrolling down will present you with a list of over 40 videos (but not all of them are that long) from that same user, and they all appear to be from that Quidditch exhibition.

The UK team hosted teams from Australia, Canada, France, and the United States on July 8 and 9 as the Olympic Torch passed through Oxford.

FYI, a non-formatted version of The IQA Rulebook, Sixth Edition is available for download here.

Hey... for anyone in Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana who is looking for something to do this weekend, check out the Midwest Regional Championship tournament in Mason, OH. (It's just a little north of Cincinnati, and right near Kings Island.)

Just wondering if anyone got to attend the World Cup or if any of your schools had teams that went?

I'm very proud to say that my Alma Mater made it to the final. I graduated from UCLA last year, so I'm so happy for my Bruin family! I know one of the chasers from the team who was there in Florida this week. He was so excited and happy to go!
