Gryffindors haven't cornered the market on impatience, trust me!

I have a question about possibly being on the podcast. You always refer to having the proper audio equipment to record. Do you have any suggestions? I do notice that the audio quality of Alohomora is quite good, but not all podcasts can say the same. Is a set of USB headphone with a microphone sufficient, or do you recommend more sophisticated equipment?

Thanks!

I would recommend giving what you have a shot. Certainly we aren't asking you to purchase or even rent anything outlandish! We have good equipment because we have to. We do, though, ask that fans at least be able to eliminate background noise and not to use the laptop internal mic, should you have a laptop. Our editors are amazing and can make even the worst sounding microphone sound pretty good! Background noise, as I mentioned, is key. A quiet, well padded room (meaning, don't sit in an empty, echoy room) is best. Try putting pillows around yourself on your desk if the room you're recording in doesn't have curtains or linens. Good luck! Can't wait to hear what you have to say!

This may be a stupid question, but how do I change my password in this forum? I can't find that option anywhere, so I clicked "I forgot my passowrd", although I haven't forgotten it, in the hope that the email the system sends me would contain a hint. But although it said "An new password has been sent to your email address", no such email arrived (and no, it's not in the spam folder!), and my old password still works. Can anyone help me?

Okay up the top beneath the Alohomora! banner, there are links for "Back to Alohomora forum", "FAQ", "search", "Members", and "User control panel". Click the User Control Panel link and it should take you to a page with a list of options in a box on the left. Click "Profile". Then on the next page, in that same box, click "edit account settings" and it will take you to a page where you can update your email address and also edit your password.

I hope that helps.

If we were to send in a recording, about how long should it be? I mean, I don't want it to be too quick but I don't want to bore you all to death...

It should be exactly as long as it needs to be :) Let me put it this way. It shouldn't be 10-15 seconds long because it's hard to get an analytical point across that quickly, but if you spend 10 minutes then we may think you don't have succinct thoughts. So...take as long as you need! Just make it good!
