Hellooooo!

Quick question from the peanut gallery. On the Alohomora submissions site, is there a preferred size range for art?

Also, I assume that things not associated with one of the seven books or Jo's supplementary works are to be submitted under 'Alohomora!'. Is this correct?

Obviously we don't want a HUUUUUGE piece of art, but whatever you send it will probably be scaled down to fit within the frame of the site. So, whatever you have is probably fine :)

And, yes, feel free to submit under the Alohomora! category...once image uploading is working. For now, please send your image into us a fanart@staff.mugglenet.com and we will post it for you! Be sure to include your username! Thanks!

I read the essay about Remus and Sirius, it was listed not for under age 13. I was really uncomfortable about the subject matter. It's nice that you put an age limit, but I think this type of essay shouldn't be permitted. You open it up to other people critizing each other. And since you have limited moderation, I still think you are going to have problems with people posting their opinions. COS prides themselves on being family friendly, but I don't see that here.

Could you please inform me as to how I can have an avatar or picture on my account?
Also, could you please tell me how I can choose a House to be in and display it?

I also do not understand what the User Interface Panel is and where it is located. Could you explain that as well?

Thank you!

I understand your concern. We're a different website here than what CoS has done in the past or even MuggleNet. All of our pieces are academic in nature, and we not only allow diverse readings such as this one but encourage them. Sometimes this kind of analysis means talking about uncomfortable things - which is appropriate, as the Harry Potter series is certainly concerned with uncomfortable things, as is the real world.

All content that deals with potentially controversial subjects are listed with the age warning. Keep in mind all content submitted goes into a queue - we do not post anything blatantly offensive or does not speak to legitimate analytical work. In terms of moderation in the forums we're actually quite thorough as we are all taking part in these interesting discussions, ourselves, and plan to bring on new mods very soon.

If you find anything on the site that seems particularly hateful, feel free to direct message me. The idea of Alohomora! is to find and build your own niche there by filtering only the kind of content you would be interested in seeing. We're still improving this function.

Hi Cho! All of your answers can be found in our F.A.Q. post, which you can read here.

Hey, loving this site already! Only thing is I keep forgetting where forums and topics I've posted in and was wondering if there is a way of being notified when there have been replies to a topic?

Great! We are so glad that you enjoy it! Thanks for the feedback!

As for the reply notifications, there are TWO ways in fact!

Option #1: Go to the "User Control Panel" (under the "L" in the header). Click on "Board Preferences" then "Edit Posting Defaults". Right there you can choose whether or not to receive reply notifications as a default.

Option #2: When you post, (NOT Quick Reply), there are a few checkboxes underneath, including one that states "Notify me when a reply is posted". If you check that, you will receive reply notifications for that topic only.

Hi,
I wanted to record an audio message in MP3 format to email you as a suggestion for discussion, as you said in the podcast, that you'll be inviting fans to participate. I've googled it and searched my computer (the normal microphone recorder won't work with my headset for some reason). All I got are free recorders that stop recording after 1 minute and ask you to buy them for more time, and one online recorder that won't upload it properly. I'd love if you could create an easier way for fans to contact you to be on the podcast. I got a new headset that sounds great and I've got lots of interesting ideas! Perhaps something on the website where you can record the idea? Or I would love a link to a proper website or program to do this.
Thanks in advance :)

I would suggest Audacity. It's free and it's easy to use! You WILL need to download a separate patch in order to export in MP3 form, so I would look into that as well. Good luck! We look forward to our submission!
