On the ghostly nun and death in general: I believe that all wizards get a "Kings Cross" type event when they die. Harry's was slightly different because he wasn't actually dead and could return to his body but all wizards would have that same choice to "go back" or "go on". Most would go on but some are afraid of what lies ahead like Nick. This means our nun was a witch, who may or may not have gone to Hogwarts to learn the spells, and when she died chose not to "go on." I definately think that this is a swipe at fake faith on the part of Jo to those people who use their faith to do horrible things that deep down they know "God" wouldn't approve of. Like proclaiming a children's book to be the work of the Devil.

My sister was a hatstall between Ravenclaw and Slytherin, which I think makes a lot more sense than Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. Most of the prominent Slytherins in the series (Voldemort, Snape, the Malfoys, and even Slughorn and Nott, whom we know less about) are quite intelligent, and Slytherin has won the House Cup many times, often for years in a row, and I don't think it could have gotten all these points if a good percentage of its students weren't intelligent - ambition can only get you so far. I think the difference between Ravenclaw intelligence and Slytherin intelligence is that the first is used for its own sake, for gaining more knowledge, while the second for reaching certain goals and for personal gain.

I think people who hate being sorted to Hufflpuff are stupid. Helga Hufflepuff was the only founder who didn't discriminate against anyone and wanted to offer knowledge to all magical people, which definitely makes her the best one - and isn't non-discrimination a huge theme in the series? And Hufflepuff people are usually loyal, hardworking and kind - ooooh, such horrible things to be called! People hating Hufflepuff make obvious why this world is such a mess.

Regarding Hermione's fervent efforts against the Chamber of Secrets events: yes, she is a wonderful and just person, but let's not forget that she's a 13-year-old girl, of course she's afraid of how this may affect her. Not wanting to die at this age is not egoism.

Sorry for the long post.

I've always heard the phrase "Writing on the wall" in association with gossip.
Perhaps this was a reference to people starting to believe the "writing on the wall" about Harry being Heir of Slytherin?

"Of course it is in your head, Harry, but why should that mean that it is not real?"

-Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, by J. K. Rowling

Dumbledore's question here is one that many a Harry Potter fan is probably familiar with, and one that I have always wondered about. Obviously, the headmaster chose to "go on" after his death, as opposed to becoming a ghost. So then how was he able to go back to King's Cross?

I hate hate HATE mentioning this, but... concerning the Wagga Wagga Werewolf, someone mentioned how Lockhart mentioned turning a werewolf back into a man despite the contradictory evidence from the other books. Someone else mentioned that it might not be a true werewolf. This (shamefully) reminded me of Twilight (did I mention that I hate Twilight?). Well, it is revealed in the final book that Jacob and all his fellow wolves weren’t really werewolves at all but shape shifts. We know that shape shifting is possible in other forms (boggarts, Polyjuice Potions, Animagi, ect.) so is it possible that this is just another form of magic that just isn’t mentioned later? If it is, J.K. Rowling thought of this 10 years before Stephenie Meyer!

Also, I agree with Efthymia above. I am a Ravenclaw, but I always considered Slytherin to be the most similar house. I think it comes down to pride – Ravenclaws are very proud of their knowledge and skills and Slytherins are very proud of their ancestry and ambition.

There was something mentioned in this podcast about if a pregnant person drinks polyjuice potion what happens? Well I think that if the person taking the polyjuice potion is pregnant it probably won't work because there are two beings inside the one person. So in order to make the effects work the pregnant person would have to give the potion to the baby also (which is impossible). However, It could also have side effects if a pregnant person drinks it. Like the person only turns partially into another person and is sort of disfigured for as long as the potion lasts. I also believe that a pregnant person should not drink any potion at all while they are pregnant because I'm sure the potions would damage the baby in someway.
It could also be the same if someone is trying to turn into a pregnant person. Because you cannot get a piece of hair from the baby, the potion would either not work or work partially.

I was a hatstall between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. I guess it's possible I got those two houses because I dislike disloyalty and unfairness very strongly, and those are two traits that Gryffindor and Hufflepuff have in common.
In the end, I chose Gryffindor. I feel that I'm not afraid to do what has to be done, even if I'm all alone and that I never give up. I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, but I do think I'm quite brave. I love Hufflepuff, but somehow I feel that it would be too anonymous for me. I don't particularly love being the centre of attention at any given time, but I do demand acknowledgement when I've accomplished something I'm proud of.

I was a hatstall between Ravenclaw and Slytherin, and chose Slytherin. I do love to learn just for its own sake and expand my knowledge, but at the core of my being, I'm inherently selfish. Always have been, I'm an only child after all. But I've never thought of that as necessarily a bad thing. I don't hurt other people, it's not in my nature to put others down or step on them in order to put myself higher. I just know what I want and prefer that path over what others might want for me. Slytherin Pride ;)
