One more note about the color green - I know this color can be used to symbolize the illusion of achieving happiness or fulfilling one's desires (think the green light at the end of the dock in The Great Gatsby or Singleman's emerald green slippers in Death of a Salesman). Perhaps Jo chose to have the man wear an emerald green cloak to go along with this idea - Voldemort is gone, and the Wizarding world supposedly has achieved its dream?

Very good notes, I'd love to read more of them!

Wow, you really broke down Jo's writing. Makes you respect her writing technique, and how much effort must have really went into all of her books!

I always thought that is was Dedalus Diggle who met Vernon as he was leaving his office!

Author's Response: And that may very well be true. As I was going back over the text for my notes, my first thought was "Hey, that sounds like the description of Flitwick!" But that's just my opinion. Only Jo really knows who he is.

I would just like to add that, if you read the exclusive content on Pottermore, you learn that green is one of the base colors for the wizarding world, and thus of magic, which is why Slytherin and Voldemort would both prize the color. It's like wearing a jersey. Sure, only the people who know the team exists would understand the color representation, but to the wearer it holds more pride and significance.

I'd definitely be interested in reading more chapter notes from you. I'd never thought of the squeaky wizard as being Flitwick before, but it is definitely possible.
Emerald green items interestingly make more appearances in book one with the writing on Harry's Hogwart's letters to the emerald green jumper Harry gets from Mrs. Weasley. Coincidences?

Author's Response: I definitely had tons of fun writing those notes. I realized that I could write a 4-page paper on a single chapter for fun much easier than I can write a 3-page paper on an entire book for a school assignment! Thanks for the feedback!
