This is amazing! I totally love it! Wow, this is really great. I'm a Slytherin, so I never really considered myself biased towards Gryffindor, but I think you're right here that there definitely is a bias. This is really well done! I totally love it!
Thought provoking article! Speaking as a Puff, there is no way Peter Pettigrew is a Hufflepuff - what loyalty? what fair play? what kindness or tolerance? There had to have been something not in the cannon that we will learn about Peter that gives us more. Perhaps he was brave to the point of foolhardiness to take on being an unregistered animagus in order to play with his warewolf friend, but what we see for his adult life is sheer cowardice.
And JKR clearly has her reasons for where people were placed, perhaps we'll find out in Pottermore.
There's lots of overlap - oftentimes I've thought Dumbledore was more a Slytherin than a Gryffindor only to reverse my opinion later.
But back to Peter - NOT A PUFF!

I never thought of Peter being in any other house but Gryffindor. I just thought he became a coward later in life. We don't know when he joined Voldemort. Peter could have been tortured, maybe not by Voldemort but by a DE. James would not have kept Peter in the Marauders group if he thought Peter was a coward. That's probably why he was shocked when Voldemort showed up. If James suspected that Peter would betray them, he would have had his wand in his hand when Voldemort broke down the door. The fact that James was confident that he and Lily were safe kept him from having his wand with him at all times.
I never really saw Hermione's rule following as a Ravenclaw trait. Truthfully, I saw it as a Hermione trait, and if asked to point to a house that belonged in, would have said Hufflepuff because following the rules shows you can be trusted and that you are loyal to the school. I, for a long time, said Wormtail was not a true Gryffindor. Not because he is, well, Wormtail, but because he was a coward. He gave up his friends to save himself, while Sirius or Remus would rather have died. I agree that his actions display bravery, and no other house seems a good fit, but he was a coward through and through.
Another point, many of the people who deny Wormtail's 'Gryffindorness' are Gryffindors themselves. And, no offense meant, the house seems to have the idea that they are the best. Know I speak from experience, and only of certain members of the house. They seem to think they need to be perfect, so they deny those who gice their house a bad name.
Slytherins, as you pointed out, will never deny who was in their house. Almost like Ollivander, they don't see good or evil, only greatness. We snakes have pride that isn't all based off of who was in Slytherin before us, though we are proud of the deeds preformed by former members of the house.
I think this is a great point especially as you focus on how we favour Gryffindor to the other houses.
I never thought Peter would be a Hufflepuff. He's not loyal to anyone but himself. Much like Lucius, he is interested in following whoever is the most powerful and offers him the most "opportunity." I totally agree that we all have traits from all the houses.
We've talked a lot about where the curse of unicorn blood comes from, but just what exactly is the curse?! That's what this Quibble seeks to find out!
I'm back with more of my thoughts and questions that I had while re-reading the Harry Potter books. This time from Chapters 1 & 2 of Chamber of Secrets.
I pair up characters with magical creatures that are like them.

This is an essay I wrote for school comparing and contrasting the lives of Harry and Voldemort. It starts with their childhoods and continues until the end of the books.
