The Alohomora! Podcast Hosts

The hosts of Alohomora! have collectively worked on MuggleNet for 51 years.

That's a lot of brain power. So, you would think that hosting a podcast with that many years of Potter experience would be easy. You would be right. No, just kidding. The hosts make it look easy, but it's not. They do have a lot of fun though! Want to know more about their mundane Muggle lives? All the boring details are below.

Alison, a 23 year old Californian-currently-residing-in-Utah, has been a Harry Potter fanatic since she was five, and has since read the series over fifty times. A proud (and often conflicted) Gryffinpuff, she graduated from Brigham Young University in English Education and currently teaches seventh grade English. Though she can connect absolutely everything to Harry Potter, she also loves reading, writing, tennis, music, hanging out with family and friends, and thinking about all of the above. She's been told that she basically is Hermione Granger, from the bossiness to the naturally frizzy hair and everything in between.
Eric, 25 originally from Reading, Pennsylvania, is currently enjoying life in the Windy City (Chicago, IL). No stranger to podcasts, Eric has co-hosted MuggleCast since 2005 and currently can also be found on “Game of Owns” and occasionally “Hogwarts Radio.” Eric is thrilled to continue discussion of Harry Potter well beyond his own adolescence.
Kat, a proud Ravenclaw from Massachusetts, has been a part of the Harry Potter fandom for most of her adult life. Now in her mid-30's, she has read the Harry Potter series so many times, she has lost count! As the podcasts resident Eagle, she has basically memorized the lexicon, usually has the correct answer to a question & loves to prove others wrong! The 10% of her life that she spends not thinking on, talking about, or reading Harry Potter, is dedicated to travel, photography, and petting her two adorable, soft kitties.

Katy, a ’79 baby and Carolina girl, fell in love with the Wizarding World when the first Potter movie was released in 2001. A professional fangirl, she has been creating websites since 1997 and podcasting since 2005, co-hosting Masters Cast and later Brite Cast. Her love for all things tech pushed her towards a Bachelor’s degree in IT. Her passion for all things Potter inspired her to become a part of MuggleNet staff in 2017. Like any good Ravenclaw, her curiosity is never satiated. When she’s not Pottering around the net (hah!), she can be found adding to her massive Rainbow Brite collection, traveling with her husband, or snuggling with their two cats.

Kristen, a 25-year-old Ravenclaw from Virginia, has been a fan of Harry Potter since the age of 12 and has read the books countless times. Her favorite pass time is to curl up with a good book surrounded by her two puppies, Tag & Sherlock.  She works as the Social Media Manager for MuggleNet. Kristen's Muggle passion is working with kids who have disabilities. Right now, she is an ABA therapist for children on the Autism spectrum. She graduated from VCU with my Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
Michael is a 28-year-old Hufflepuff from Albuquerque, New Mexico (though he now lives in Austin, Texas). Michael previously managed and hosted MuggleNet Fan Fiction’s AudioFictions program, currently acts as a rotating host for MuggleNet's SpeakBeasty podcast, and is best known in the Harry Potter community for his many impressions of various wizarding world denizens. Beyond Potter, Michael graduated from university in 2011 with a major in Cinematic Arts and a minor in Theater. He is currently pursuing a career as a professional Youth Services Librarian. In his spare time, Michael does his best to conduct himself as similarly to Professor Lupin as he can, while also collecting Harry Potter Trading Cards in the hope that someone will someday play the game with him.
Rosie, a 24-year-old Medieval Studies and Literature student from Oxford, UK, has been working for MuggleNet for over eight years though most people probably didn’t know. She’s spent most of her time over on MuggleNet Fanfiction moderating stories and exploring all aspects of the Potterverse both within the canon and fan-universes. A loyal Hufflepuff, she loves to find new ways of viewing the text and making connections within the fandom.

  • Socks & Slugs

Thanks so much for this podcast. Been a Potter fan since 2001 but just discovered podcasts this summer. I have listened to all 97 episodes and greatly look forward to finishing the books with you. Love to talk HP and now have someone share this with.

  • Hufflepug

I’m creeping on the hosts page instead of reading for class so I can say how entertaining this podcast is and how awesome all of you guys are for pulling it off every week and offering a platform for your listeners to be part of the discussion. Happy 100th episode! 🙂

  • laughing with Fred

Hey guys just heard the podcast, and the comment about my username. The reason I chose luaghing with Fred is not to be morbid, but to highlight the many moments of joy and laughter that the twins brought to me throughout the series.

  • Rosie and Kat are my favs. Where is Noah, did he leave later on?

    • Kat

Thanks Meggy! Noah did leave not long ago.

      • Sorry if I am behind. I just started on the podcasts. Content from 2012! lol.

        Those British accents :O

  • Sarah M.

Michael, your British accent is awful and your impressions are INSUFFERABLE. I’m a huge HP fan, but I can’t listen to this podcast because of your annoying, egotistical tendency to slip into a fake British accent. Please stop thinking you’re good at doing HP voices… you’re not.

    • Michael Harle

I understand! I’ve received the critique before, and on the flip side, there are plenty of well-known voice actors whose work I don’t like. It’s all a matter of personal taste. To be fair, I am rusty now that I’m focusing more on my career in library youth services.

As it is, though, I do the voices not only because there are some who still enjoy them, but also because they were special for me and my brother and that, in turn, is a unique part of my experience with the fandom that I find joy in sharing with others. :{ )

      • Paige Crawley

This is the nicest, most well-reasoned response to the the worst comment I’ve ever seen on this website. Props to you!

  • Michael Killey

Been with this since Yertle the Turtle way back in the day. So sad to see it coming to an end, just like everything that is good

  • Rachel

I listen to an episode (old or new) almost every day as I’m driving between jobs. They definitely make my day brighter. Thanks for keeping it going after all this time!

  • Kat
