Hello fellow Potterheads! While I'm known 'round these parts as Hippogriff, I'm usually called Hayley. :)
I'm from Canada and was introduced to Harry Potter only a few years ago when some friends pretty much forced it down my throat! However, I am as dedicated a fan as anyone and thoroughly regret not getting into this way of life sooner.
A proud Ravenclaw, I love to read, write, dance, and play Quidditch (I'm a Seeker). I am also currently an Unspeakable for Level 9.
Summary: An essay about the importance and symbolism of the use of specific colours in the Harry Potter books, with a focus on the colours representing the four Hogwarts houses.
Summary: My opinion on some instances of possible animal abuse, and how they affect the overall message of the Harry Potter series.
Summary: Some wild guesses about different aspects of using the Floo Network, and my opinion on the Floo-related topics discussed on the Alohomora! podcast.
Summary: A look at how the Warriors series by Erin Hunter is similar to and different from our beloved Harry Potter series.
Summary: A quantitative measure of how much magic someone posesses (at the request of the Alohomora! Podcast hosts)
Summary: "Imagine being in Hufflepuff, I think I'd leave, wouldn't you?" This line by Draco Malfoy on page 60 of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is presumably where the discrimination and stereotyping of Hufflepuff house began. We are all aware of the jokes and wisecracks that have been made, and many of us believe they are unprovoked and unnecessary. I enjoy a good Hufflepuff pun as much as the next person, but there is a line. Where is this line exactly? This is what I would like to find out.
Summary: A little look at why I think that the feats the Golden Trio are capable of in the books might be a bit over-estimated.
Summary: Some of my questions and theories about the inner workings of Parseltongue, and how Parselmouths really come about.
Summary: Some crazy ideas about exactly why the motto "Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus" is relevant to the Harry Potter series.
We've talked a lot about where the curse of unicorn blood comes from, but just what exactly is the curse?! That's what this Quibble seeks to find out!
I'm back with more of my thoughts and questions that I had while re-reading the Harry Potter books. This time from Chapters 1 & 2 of Chamber of Secrets.
I pair up characters with magical creatures that are like them.
In which I try to explain my views on prejudice in the Wizarding world, and connect it to certain areas of the muggle world as well. The category is Fantastic Beats and Where to...
This is an essay I wrote for school comparing and contrasting the lives of Harry and Voldemort. It starts with their childhoods and continues until the end of the books.
